HealthTech evaluation methodology
Our 'HealthTech evaluation methodology' theme provides world-class expertise in health economics, statistics, qualitative and behavioural/implementation methods to support rigorous evaluation across all HRC themes.
We ensure that innovative health technologies are assessed effectively and efficiently for their impact, cost-effectiveness, and real-world applicability.

Current projects
- COPD tRansforMation of diagnOstic pathways in pRimary cAre using N-Tidal (CORMORANT)
This project evaluates the accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and acceptability of the N-Tidal Diagnose AI-powered COPD diagnostic versus current care pathways, to inform primary care use. - plaTform fOr Urinary tract infection diagnostiC evAluatioN (TOUCAN)
Clinical evaluation of new rapid tests for diagnosing acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections in primary care. - EVaLuating a nOvel UTI diagnOstic for aNtibiotic stewardship (EVOLUTION)
Determination of the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a clinical assessment process that incorporates a novel rapid diagnostic for acute uncomplicated urinary tract infection in community healthcare settings. - Expanding Access to Sustainable Diagnostics Africa (EXPANDIA)
Development of an evidence and guideline-based decision tool to support context appropriate selection of laboratory tests by laboratories in Africa.
Impact
Our methodological research aims to:
- Accelerate the evaluation process for new health technologies
- Improve the quality and reliability of HealthTech evidence
- Enhance the translation of research findings into clinical practice
- Support informed decision-making by healthcare providers and policymakers
Collaborations:
As a team of methodologists – statisticians, health economists, qualitative researchers, and implementation scientists – we collaborate with industry and SME partners and across academic institutions, as well as regulatory bodies and health technology assessment organisations.
